Leading the service this Sunday, September 1st at the Weekapaug Chapel, will be the Rev. Roy E. Jacobsen. Rev. Jacobsen is a retired Lutheran minister who served as Pastor of two Connecticut churches: in New Fairfield for twenty-four years and in Windsor for sixteen years. His wife, Mary Ellen, spent summers during her childhood with her grandparents, Alfred and Dotty Chase in Weekapaug. The Jacobsen’s have lived in Quonchontaug since his retirement from the ministry.

There will be no Sunday School classes this Sunday as many families have returned to their winter homes. The Chapel Trustees thank Caroline Maynard and her many volunteer teachers for all their work with the area children who have enjoyed their time in the Memorial Garden.

The choir will rehearse at 9 am next Sunday for their final week of contributing their talents to the service. The Annual Labor Day Hymn Sing will be held on Sunday at 8:15 pm. We encourage all members of the community to join us for this popular yearly event.

The final worship service at the Chapel for this summer will be held on September 8th and will be led by the Rev. Joan Withers Priest of Greenwich, CT. The Chapel, located at 105 Noyes Neck Rd. in Weekapaug, holds services each week with visiting ministers of various denominations leading worship. For further information please call 322-1450.
