The Rev. Thomas Speers to visit the Weekapaug Chapel

On Sunday, July 27th, the 10 am service at the Weekapaug Chapel will be led by the Rev. Thomas G. Speers, of Simsbury, CT. The Rev. Speers is co-pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Hartford, CT. Previously he served churches in Philadelphia, PA, Baltimore, MD, and East Kilbride, Scotland. In addition to his work with First Presbyterian Church, he serves as Presbyter for Discerning the Way in the Presbytery of Southern New England and is co-chair of the Committee on Ministry. Tom lives on the campus of the Ethel Walker School in Simsbury, CT where his wife Bessie is Head of School. They have two children, Nellie and Guthrie.

Following the service at 11:00 AM the Annual Meeting of the Chapel Society will be held for the election of trustees and to discuss other business concerning the Chapel. Area residents who attend Chapel services are invited to attend this meeting.

The Chapel Choir under the direction of organist Gery Elliott continues to provide music each Sunday during the summer. Those wishing to join the Choir are asked to come to the Chapel at 9 AM on Sunday mornings for a brief rehearsal before the service. Area children are continuing to enjoy their special time at the chapel with Sunday School class being held in the Memorial Garden following the children’s sermon.

The Chapel Society Trustees look forward to the return of the Reverend Robert Anthony of Centerville, MA. next Sunday, August 3rd. He will lead the service of Holy Communion.
