Weekapaug Chapel Welcomes Rabbi Alan Ullman

The Trustees of the Weekapaug Chapel are delighted to welcome the return of Rabbi Alan Ullman to lead the service at the Chapel this Sunday, August 10th. Rabbi Alan Ullman travels around America and Europe teaching the Bible at temples, synagogues, churches, businesses, private study groups. He also leads retreats for people who share in the desire to study the Bible as a way to guide and inform the spiritual journey that is our lives today. Alan was ordained by the Hebrew Union College in Cincinnati in 1985 and served as Assistant Rabbi at Temple Emanuel in Worcester, Massachusetts for three years. In 1988 he founded the School for Jewish Studies, dedicated to teaching Torah to adults, which served as the foundation for his current work. His wife, Melanie, is the librarian at Temple Emanuel of Worcester, MA and Temple Shalom of Newton, MA. Rabbi Ullman will meet with those who are interested in further study at the end of the service.

Also this Sunday the Chapel is celebrating August’s Outreach Sunday with the monies contributed going to schools and agencies overseas. Happily, the Mwea School in Kenya, which we have supported for many years, is at a point where it has become self-sustaining. Last year the Chapel began a relationship with the Kpelezo Community School in Ghana. Members of the Tyler family have connections with the Friends of Kpelezo, a foundation which supports the school.

Next Sunday, August 17th, the Chapel Society will welcome the return of the Rev. Katherine Silvan of Wilton, Ct. She will be accompanied by her husband Rob Silvan who will bring members of his choir to provide their special music. Those wishing to sing with the Choir are asked to come to the Chapel at 9am for a rehearsal.

Services are held each week through September 7th at 10:00am at the Chapel at 105 Noyes Neck Rd and remember whether you’ve been coming to Weekapaug for a day, a week or a lifetime, all are welcome to attend the ecumenical, intergenerational services at the Weekapaug Chapel. For further information about the Chapel, please call 401-322-1450.
