Leading the service this Sunday, August 31st at the Weekapaug Chapel, will be the Rev. Roy E.

Jacobsen. Rev. Jacobsen is a retired Lutheran minister who served as Pastor of two Connecticut

churches: in New Fairfield for twenty-four years and in Windsor for sixteen years. His wife,

Mary Ellen, spent summers during her childhood with her grandparents, Alfred and Dotty

Chase in Weekapaug. The Jacobsen’s have lived in Quonchontaug since his retirement from the

There will be no Sunday School classes this Sunday as many families have returned to their

winter homes. The Chapel Trustees thank Caroline Maynard and her many teenage volunteer

teachers for all their work with the area children. It has been an outstanding summer for the

children who have enjoyed their time in the Memorial Garden.

The choir will rehearse at 9 am next Sunday for their final week of contributing their talents

to the service. The Annual Labor Day Hymn Sing will be held on Sunday at 8:00 pm. We

encourage all members of the community to join us for this popular yearly event.

The final worship service at the Chapel for this summer will be held on September 7th and will

be led by the Rev. Richard Morgan of Westerly. The Chapel, located at 105 Noyes Neck Rd. in

Weekapaug, holds services each week with visiting ministers of various denominations leading

worship. We welcome all area residents to join in worshiping at the Chapel during the summer
